Hybrid Medical Clinic Model
The outreach model of CompassionLink (CL) combines elements of both community health development (training) and healthcare relief (clinic) in the same week-long outreach. Prior to the beginning of this week-long outreach, the host church and global workers prayerfully select a group of local church workers, who are evangelism and outreach-oriented, to receive training on the first two days and be mentored during the subsequent clinic days. At the end of the week, after CL leaves the country, these workers, with the support of the local church and global workers, continue to use the skills that they have learned, in order to access, benefit and bring God’s relationship message to other communities.
Medical Skills Training (MST)—formerly Community Health Training (CHT)
In areas where medical care is unavailable, we train students to use community health training kits that include stethoscopes, blood pressure cuffs, first-aid supplies, newborn delivery and resuscitation equipment, and educational materials that could help save or improve the quality of a neighbor’s life and enhance opportunities to build bridges for sharing the love of Jesus.
Optical Skills Training (OST)
In areas where eyeglasses are not easily accessible, we train students to give basic optical exams and distribute eyeglasses to improve the physical and spiritual vision of their neighbors. Optical screeners are left with the tools they will need to conduct optical outreaches.
Resilience and Emotional Healing
At times, we meet pastors who are experiencing depression or burnout from a tough life of ministry. We believe that God brings restoration to others in their body, soul, and mind. As the body of Christ, we are called to support and uplift those who are struggling. We work with pastors to help their church through the pain of natural disasters, war, or other life-altering situations.
